Featured Work

This impressive collection of medals was brought in by our customer who had inherited them from his Father.

He was keen to give them the treatment they deserved and get them on display rather than keeping them locked away in a drawer.

The Process

Picture

1 - Layout

Together we decided on the arrangement and chose a suitable mount colour, the customer provided details of each of the medals so that we could add the information into the mount.

2 - Mockup

Once the layout is decided we worked out the overall size of the mount and the position and size of all the necessary apertures.

3 - Matting

Our Gunnar computerised matcutter is programmed with all the measurements and does a great job of cutting all the precision windows ready for the wording and medals to be inserted.

4 - Assembly

The descriptions are printed out and placed behind the apertures and the medals are fixed by fitting the pins through the pre-cut slots securing them behind the mount without the need for any glue or permanent fixings.

5 - Frame

Finally the frame is assembled with a 20mm spacer between the glass and the mount allowing enough depth for the medals.
